C-SPAN Teacher Fellowship

C-SPAN has announced the dates for its 2011 Summer Educators’ Conference. Each summer we host a day and a half long conference at C-SPAN’s headquarters in the heart of Washington, DC. Airfare to and from Washington, two nights’ hotel stay, and meals during the conference are all provided by C-SPAN.
The Gilder Lehrman Summer Seminars

A weeklong, intensive summer seminar with a renowned American historian. Choose from 39 seminars taking place at colleges and universities across the United States and in the UK. Learn document-based classroom strategies and share best practices with colleagues. Seminars are open to public and independent school teachers, and graduate credit is available.
Each participant will receive reimbursement for travel expenses up to $400 (participants traveling internationally or from Hawaii and Alaska will receive a $500 stipend in lieu of reimbursement upon completion of the seminar). Participants are responsible for making their own travel arrangements to and from the seminar


Free Summer Institutes for Social Studies Teachers http://teachingamericanhistory.org/institutes
The Ashbrook Center is offering a series of summer institutes that will assist teachers in deepening and broadening both their understanding and appreciation of American history. The focus of the institutes will be the substantive study of American history. The discussions will revolve around original historical documents and their use in the classroom.

These institutes are offered at no charge, and each teacher will receive a $500 stipend for participating. All meals and housing in apartments at Ashland University will be provided.




Toyota International Teacher Program

Fully Funded.....The Toyota International Teacher Program currently travels to the Galapagos Islands, Costa Rica, and, as of, 2011 South Africa. All programs focus on ways in which U.S. teachers can incorporate global and environmental education into their classrooms and communities. Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc. will cover all expenses specific to the program. This includes costs of program materials, transportation, meals, and lodging. Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc. will also issue each participant’s school a $500.00 stipend to help defray the costs of participation during the school year.

NSF SUMMER INSTITUTE IN PHYSICS AND PHYSICAL SCIENCE FOR INSERVICE TEACHERS

The Physics Education Group in the Physics Department at the University of Washington offers an intensive five-week summer program in physics and physical science for inservice teachers. Directed by Dr. Lillian C. McDermott, Professor of Physics, the Summer Institute is supported by the National Science Foundation. The program is tuition-free and carries ten upper-division credits in physics. Teachers may participate for up to three years. Participants receive a stipend. Funds may be available to help defray lodging costs for out-of-area participants. Transportation, meals, and other incidentals are the responsibility of the participant.

NEH Summer Scholars are awarded fixed stipends to help cover travel costs, books and other research expenses, and living expenses. Stipend amounts are based on the length of the NEH Summer Seminar or Institute: $2,100 (2 weeks), $2,700 (3 weeks), $3,300 (4 weeks), $3,900 (5 weeks), or $4,500 (6 weeks).
